 ---------------------------------

The following page is devoted to Liverpool bands who should have and could have been bigger than the Beatles but life doesn’t always work out that way does it. All the bands featured in this section were going strong during the late eighties and early nineties and many of these records were done in short runs of only a few hundred. As is often the case, many of the bands having pressed the record had no money left in order to publicise the fact they had a record out and subsequent sales were limited. Some classic folk rock bands GONE TO EARTH - their second LP ‘The Vegetarian Bullfighter’ is available from ourselves for a lowly £3.99 and that includes postage for UK customeres as well!. Another one of my favourites in this era were the seminal FISHCAKE SHAKE who’s one and only LP ‘Do The Heartbeat’ remains timeless and is full of folk, country, R&B and that good old ‘scouse sense of humour’. Completely removed from the world of GTE and Fishcake were the subtle noise merchants CYCLIC AMP. Many a headline act scampered on nervously after the AMP’s subtle as a flying mallet shows. ‘Ugly As Power’ their first mini LP is a cross between Killdozer with a rocket in them and the Dik Mik age of Hawkwind - at a bargain £3.49 inc for UK it is well recommended. The 12" ‘Concrete Island’ is a trifling £1.99.

For the completists who like something a little more unusual the last few signed copies of the compilation 'Dark Side Of The Pool' are available but I really do mean a few copies. This LP features an early demo recording by THE BOO RADLEYS and class acts such as DR.PHIBES, JULES VERNE,MR. RAY’S WIGWORLD and DRIVE. This LP is certainly a collectable for the future and the fact it is autographed by over twenty of the artists featured makes it very unique.

For those who like a sampler of things before going the full way of purchasing one bands works might we suggest the compilation 'Ways to Wear Coats'. This LP includes tracks by TWO’S A CROWD, HALF MAN HALF BISCUIT, THE JACTARS, THE DaVINCIS, CRIKEY IT’S THE CROMPTONS and eight other bands. This sampler is a bargain line item at a ridiculously low £2.50 and for those who want to backtrack on some Liverpool quality of the eighties or just wish to add to or start a Liverpool collection - we’ve already heard from hundreds of you - thanks! - this is a fine starting point.

Within time, there will be full details up on the site about the many many bands from eighties Liverpool who deserved to fare a lot better but in the meantime please take some time to peruse through the listing. Feel free to contact us about anything that looks interesting or curious to you - we will assure you that it is!.
